This is a very short play I wrote about Patrick Matthew and Charles Darwin.
While Darwin undoubtedly made an enormous contribution to our understanding of evolution it is seldom made clear that there are serious shortcomings in the Origin of Species. This leads to a distortion of the history of evolution and is unhelpful to people who choose to read The Origin of Species.
This essay describes some of the history leading to the discovery of Azidothymidine and its efficacy in the treatment of AIDS. The relative input from public and private research is considered in the light of the patent being awarded to a pharmeceutical company.
British Library’s Chinese Influences
A visit to the British Library reminded me of the Imperial Chinese architecture I had seem many years before In Beijing.
